Volunteering

Apart from our rabbi, BHPS is entirely run by volunteers. We are always looking for help in any of the following areas: if you’re interested, please be in touch! And if you’re worried you don’t have the skills, don’t worry, we can train and support you.

  • Meet-and-greet: welcoming people to our services, offering refreshments and ensuring newcomers have somebody to talk to. Could you be our next friendly face?
  • Security: working closely with the Community Security Trust, our security volunteers help to keep our building and members safe. Do you want to enjoy the fresh air while looking after your community?
  • Streaming: most of our Saturday and festival services are broadcast via Zoom and YouTube. Are you interested in learning how to use the tech?
  • Baking: for many festivals, we deliver baked goods to members who are housebound. Do you have a few hours spare to make latkes or honeycake?
  • Service leaders and readers: all of our services include participation by members, and some are entirely lay-led. Whether a small reading in English or a lengthy reading in Hebrew, do you want to contribute to the spiritual life of BHPS?
  • Trustees: as a charity we are run by a Council of trustees. Might you have the drive to lead our community?
