Adult education

BHPS offers adult education to suit everybody.

At 12:30pm on term-time Saturdays, Rabbi Gabriel teaches Exploring Judaism, looking at basic Jewish topics in a friendly atmosphere. Come if you’re converting to Judaism; come if you grew up Jewish but still have gaps; come if you know everything!

Each 45-minute session is followed by 45 minutes of Hebrew learning for adults, in two groups: absolute beginners, and intermediate. Or if learning Hebrew isn’t your thing, there’s no shame in leaving at break-time!

On term-time Thursday evenings, Rabbi Gabriel leads an interactive text study session over Zoom. Topics of past courses have included: animals in Jewish thought; and the life of Adam and Eve. No Hebrew or prior knowledge is necessary at all.

Once a month, at 10am on a Saturday, we have a session on Mussar, Jewish spiritual practice.
